Beauty queen and beau breach quarantine in Barbados.

Wow! I saw where ex-Miss Great Britain and Love Island contestant, Zara Holland and her boyfriend were vacationing recently in Barbados. As dictated by protocol, they underwent COVID-19 tests on arrival and were quarantining in their hotel while awaiting the test results. The boyfriend failed his COVID-19 test and they were supposed to be waiting for transport to a quarantine facility when they cut off their wristband monitors, fled to the airport and attempted to board a BA flight. They were detained at the airport and transported to the quarantine facility where the boyfriend remains until he has recovered. Holland was re-tested at the facility and was again found to be negative, so she was allowed to return to the hotel. Barbadian locals have been clamoring for them to be locked up for breaching quarantine. It remains to be seen what punishment, if any, will be meted out to them. Click here to read about it.

Recently, a Jamaican national, Dean George Scott (who had not been diagnosed to have COVID-19 and who had not cut off his wristband) was locked up for 6 months😱 for breaching quarantine to buy “a fanta and some snacks” (Seems a bit harsh to me).

When Skylar Mack was given a 4 month sentence for quarantine breach here in Cayman recently, I felt that was a bit harsh as well. I think the 2 months that her sentence was reduced to was more appropriate. It will be very interesting to me to see how Holland and her beau are treated in light of Scott’s harsh punishment. Their transgression seems worse to me. They already knew that the boyfriend had COVID-19 and yet they cut off their wristbands and endangered the lives of multiple people while attempting to flee the island.
