After an 8 month break, the Voice UK 2020 is over!

Well, Gevanni Hutton did Jamaica proud last night! Like everything else on the planet, The Voice UK was impacted by the COVID-19 virus. They went on an 8 month long break, resuming 3 weeks ago. Gevanni used the time well, reporting back for duty with Jimmy Cliff’s “Many Rivers To Cross”. His performance moved Will.I.Am to put him through to the finals which took place last night!

On the night of the finals, Gevanni had two solid performances, a solo performance of “You’ve Got A Friend” and a song he did with Will.I.Am, Bob Marley’s “No Woman No Cry”…

Unfortunately for Gevanni, he did not win, but he did exceedingly well to make the Finals, because the talent in this season of The Voice was Phenomenal. Blessing Chipita was the eventual winner. I felt she was going to win from the semi-finals when she had the performance of the night with Mariah Carey’s ‘Without You’.

Blessing was doing her ‘A’ Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Sociology in England and her parents wanted her to finish that up and go on and study to be a doctor, but she took a pit stop on the Voice UK, and I am glad that she did. She probably has the smarts to actually continue on and eventually be a doctor, but I think that she will most likely become a singer! She has the voice, the confidence AND the personality for it and she is a most deserving winner! Here are the songs she performed at the Finals.

Robbie William’s hit song, ‘Angels’.

‘Before I go’ by Guy Sebastian

And the song she performed with her coach, Olly Murs, “Hold Back The River” by james Bay.

Her win was also a win for Olly Murs, so he has won the competition twice in a row! Olly, Olly Olly, Olly, Olly!!! Big up yourself!
