Guidance, bredrins.

Morning. Giving thanks for waking up to a bright new morn. Praying that the storm that’s out there threatening us takes a turn and misses Jamaica AND Cayman! This morning I decided to listen to some reggae covers of popular music, but I was wondering what I should start out with. The song ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ came to mind and I searched for it and “Lo and Behold”, it was there. Let’s take in a little bit of Guidance Band…

Tropavibes will give us our next song. They have plenty great reggae covers out there, if you are interested in that sort of thing.

This one coming up is irie. Maoli, take it away…

I enjoy hearing reggae covers of popular songs. Of course, growing up, I heard plenty of them on the radio at home in Jamaica. At the time, I wasn’t as appreciative, as I thought that the singers should just write their own music. Then I started watching American Idol, and tThe Voice and so on and I found that I loved listening to covers. You can hear the songs done a different way, and in any genre you like, and sometimes they sound better than the originals! Fi real! I wish more Jamaican singers were doing reggae covers on YouTube. There is money in doing this, if you are good and if you can market yourselves properly. I see people from other countries doing it successfully, and Jamaicans can do it as well. Conkarah used to do it a lot, now he is putting out his own songs more, but there is room out there for other aspiring singers.

See Conkarah here, along with LUT. There is a minor lyric change, “”Jamaica oooh nah nah.”. Havana is nice after all, but Yard nicer! Though some might say I am biased. 😉

Have a nice day, you hear. I gone to get ready for work. Bless up!

Reggae Time!

Reggae time!

Watch your drinks! Watch who you take drinks from. A word to the wise is sufficient.

Big big song given to us from the island-style POV.
