I like when people do a cover and do it different from how th original, and that is not just for vocal delivery or slight changes to the melody, etc. It can be a whole change of genre. I actually like those a lot! The other night, my wife and I were watching “Legacies”, a series about a bunch of supernatural young adults, when a slew of these kinds of songs were used in the soundtrack. This was when I discovered that wifey does not like when they change up a song like that, especially a classic!
Here is one of the songs from that episode… A cover of “Take On Me”, originally by “A Ha”. I am sure there were more than just this one, but this one is all I can find tonight.
