I also heard this one by Stormzy, and I quite liked it. The back story to it is that Wiley (another Grime rapper) did a diss track against him where he dissed-up Stormzy’s mom, so Stormzy dropped one back on him, which does mention Wileys’ mom, but more around the failures of the mother by Wiley’s father, brother and by Wiley himself. Wicked track. Big, big lyricist that!
Way, way back in the day, I was in a youth group at the church I used to attend, and I remember doing a dance at a church-related event with about 3 other guys. The dance was to this song. I don’t remember anything about the dance except that we were not perfect in execution despite practicing it over and over, but I will never forget the song. I heard it so many times as we practised the dance moves… What a feeling of relief when it was all over. Jennel did a good job on the song, I think.
I used to say that Beyonce’s version of this song was my favourite song. Maybe it still is.
