I love Nailah’s new EP! First off, this is not Soca music. She has stepped out and spread her wings and I hope people support her because I would love to hear more of this kind of music from her. (By the way, I not hating on Soca!)

The music is fresh, for instance “Sweet & Loco” and “Boujee, which will get you moving no matter how tired you are. I especially love the song, “No Barbie” though. Its a song about self love, and its an important message, especially in this time of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and Tinder and so on and so on. Know this. Y’all are perfectly imperfect, each an individual, and you all have God within you! Hence, Y’all are important. . Love yourselves and love each other.

Check out Nailah’s EP, ‘The Reel’, on Spotify or your favourite streaming service.

The Unapologetic Hedonist

I used the above  for the title based on the usual lyrical content of Mr. Buddz’ songs… 🙂

This song from Collie Buddz sounds pretty good… catchy, you know? Yeah man.

It is on his favorite topic as well… Mary-ju-wanna!

It brings to mind a colleague who had come over from the Bermuda office to Cayman to work for a couple of weeks. We took her out one Friday to Mango Tree Bar & Grill and DJ Doctor was spinning some music and he threw on a Collie Buddz jam. As Collie Buddz is Bermudan, I thought what I had to say about him would be well received. I told her I quite liked Collie Buddz, especially his songs “Mamacita” and “Finally the herb come around”. She said she knew him, but she didn’t like him.

As the second song was about that, er, medication, and like how Bermuda is way out there all by itself in the middle of the Atlantic and to how Collie Buddz made it sound like the chronic might be in short supply in Bermuda, I asked her if she knew where the weed in Bermuda came from. (I bet it comes over from New York… After all, that’s the nearest place to them, innit?)

I didn’t mean to offend the poor girl, after all, its not like you’re automatically a smuggler yourself if you know that… I know where the weed in Cayman comes from, for instance. It comes from Jamaica! After all, if you follow the news any, you will hear about all the busts the RCIPS makes, when they catch the guys in the “Jamaican canoes” who bring over the high grade.

Who tell me to ask her that?! The woman brindle pon me, enuh! SHE GET VEX!!!
“Why do you think I would know where the weed in Bermuda comes from?!”. Yaddah yaddah yaddah! 😡

LOL! I had to back right-the-fuck-off of that topic, bwoy! Thinking about it now, maybe she thought I was gonna try to offer her some weed next… get her high and then try “look” her. Little did she know that it was my bredrin who was ‘feeling’ her, not me. I was just making idle conversation. Anyway, she was out with two guys she hardly knew, and she was in a country she wasn’t familiar with… I get it, I guess….

Anyway, check out Collie Buddz on “Love & Reggae”.
